Anthropic says no."},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>On Wednesday, Anthropic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anthropic.com\/news\/claude-is-a-space-to-think\">announced<\/a> that its AI chatbot, Claude, will remain free of advertisements, drawing a sharp line between itself and rival OpenAI, which <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/information-technology\/2026\/01\/openai-to-test-ads-in-chatgpt-as-it-burns-through-billions\/\">began<\/a> testing ads in a low-cost tier of ChatGPT last month. The announcement comes alongside a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/04\/anthropic-no-ads-claude-chatbot-openai-chatgpt.html\">Super Bowl ad campaign<\/a> that mocks AI assistants that interrupt personal conversations with product pitches.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are many good places for advertising. A conversation with Claude is not one of them,&#8221; Anthropic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anthropic.com\/news\/claude-is-a-space-to-think\">wrote<\/a> in a blog post. The company argued that including ads in AI conversations would be &#8220;incompatible&#8221; with what it wants Claude to be: &#8220;a genuinely helpful assistant for work and for deep thinking.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The stance contrasts with OpenAI&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/our-approach-to-advertising-and-expanding-access\/\">January announcement<\/a> that it would begin testing banner ads for free users and ChatGPT Go subscribers in the US. OpenAI said those ads would appear at the bottom of responses and would not influence the chatbot&#8217;s actual answers.
