(credit: Andrew Cunningham)<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<div><a name=\"page-1\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>This past weekend, I said goodbye to Apple\u2019s 4.7-inch iPhone 6 design after 10 long years.<\/p>\n<p>It started with <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/gadgets\/2014\/09\/iphone-6-and-6-plus-in-deep-with-apples-thinnest-phones\/\">the iPhone 6 itself<\/a> in 2014, a long-awaited screen size upgrade for the iPhone (<a href=\"https:\/\/marco.org\/2011\/10\/08\/iphone-screen-size\">some of<\/a> the 2011-era Apple punditry insisting that 3.5 inches was the functionally perfect size for a phone screen and that Apple would <a href=\"https:\/\/daringfireball.net\/2011\/10\/thoughts_and_observations_iphone_4s\">never, ever change it<\/a>, is an interesting time capsule).
