I gave DeepSeek a 24-hour challenge: research, build and backtest trading strategies using a free AI model inside OpenCode.
Could it find a trading bot that met my testing criteria, and could I prepare it for automated execution without paying for an AI coding subscription?
In this full guide, I show you how I connect DeepSeek to TradingKit, run the first backtest, create a strategy research loop, review the results and configure automated alerts through Trigger.trade.
You don’t need to write the code yourself. I explain the setup step by step, from installing OpenCode to connecting the tools and configuring the broker webhook.
The strategies use Pine Script, TradingView’s scripting language. However, the backtesting, incubation and alerts shown run inside TradingKit, so this workflow does not require a TradingView account.
But an impressive equity curve is only the beginning.
I’ll show you why I freeze a strategy’s rules and paper test it on new data before considering real money, how I use TradingKit’s Incubator, and what I check when moving from research to automated execution.
IN THIS VIDEO, YOU’LL DISCOVER:
✅ How to install OpenCode and select the free DeepSeek model shown
✅ How to connect TradingKit’s MCP backtesting tools to your AI agent
✅ How to run a simple backtest to check the connection
✅ How I set up a 24-hour research loop with 15-minute cycles
✅ How the prompt screens strategies for trade count, drawdown and overfitting
✅ How to review equity curves, trades, commissions and performance data
✅ Why I incubate strategies before trusting a backtest
✅ How TradingKit tracks forward-test results on new market data
✅ How to create strategy alerts without a TradingView subscription
✅ How broker API keys, permissions and Trigger.trade webhooks connect
✅ How to configure entry, exit, stop-loss and take-profit alert events
✅ How Telegram notifications and daily checks fit into bot monitoring
✅ What I’ve learned about diversification and switching strategies off

LESSONS FROM MY OWN AUTOMATED TRADING
1. Separate historical backtests from forward testing on new data.
2. Evaluate strategies across enough trades and different conditions.
3. Check execution carefully before increasing capital.
4. Diversify thoughtfully and define when a bot should be stopped.

ACCESS AND COSTS
Free AI model offers can change or expire. TradingKit’s current Free plan has daily testing limits, one active alert and up to one month of forward testing. Longer incubation or heavier research may require a paid plan. Check model availability, tool access and any community requirements. Trading capital and broker fees are separate.
⚠️ This video is for education and entertainment only, not financial advice. Backtests and paper-trading results are not guaranteed live returns. A 24-hour research run does not establish a lasting trading edge or complete a multi-month incubation period. Account for fees, slippage, drawdowns and the possibility of losing capital.
