Sanjay Kathuria who has millions of subscribers on his youtube channel teaches various trading strategies on his channel, so let’s see how his price action, RSI(Relative strength Index) and SMA(Simple Moving Average) based Intraday trading strategy works and is it really profitable which he says that this strategy can be used on any instrument like stocks, crypto, commodity, forex, index etc. So, let’s do its 1 year backtest using algorithm and see if it works.

So, we will dive into trading view,here we will see the same stock or index or crypto or commodity on dual timeframe of 1 hour and 15 minutes, and check if any point of time the instrument’s RSI is greater than 60 on both timeframes, the candle which corresponds to the RSI greater than 60 level will be called the signal candle on 15 minute timeframe, any next candle which breaks this signal candle’s high will be used to enter the trade on Long position, with stoploss at the low of the signal candle initially and then we will trail the stoploss using SMA indicator of length 14, and as long as the price is above the SMA line we will stay in the trade..
I have backtested this RSI 60/40 intraday trading strategy of Sanjay kathuria for 1 year using python code & took the backtest data from Dhan broker.
This price-action based strategy has given an annual return of 52%, winning trades were 41%, and i have also shown equity curve, drawdown curve showing maximum drawdown of 24% and also PnL distribution chart.
Now I will convert this intraday strategy into an algorithm so that trades get executed automatically without any emotional bias.
