Variables, Console and Your First Script | I Started Learning JavaScript Today! #javascript #html

Our web pages can show text, colors, and layouts, but they cannot think, count, or react. JavaScript changes that. In this video we write our very first lines of JavaScript together and make a number on a web page change with code. We start from zero, so no experience is needed.

What we will learn:

What JavaScript is. How HTML, CSS, and JavaScript work together as structure, style, and behavior.

Setting up the page. A simple HTML page with an id, and why an id works like a name tag that JavaScript can use to find an element.

The script tag. Why we place it at the end of the body, and how the browser reads the page from top to bottom.

Changing text with code. How to read the line document.getElementById piece by piece, and how to change an h2 from 0 to 5.

Using a separate file. How to move our code into index.js and link it with the src attribute, just like an external CSS file.

Comments. How to leave notes and turn code off temporarily with two slashes.

Variables. How to think of a variable as a labeled box, how to read let count = 0 in plain English, and the basic naming rules for beginners.

console.log. How to print values, where to find the console in Chrome, and why developers use it every day.

Our first error. What a ReferenceError means, why order matters in JavaScript, and why error messages are our friends.

This is the first video of our JavaScript journey. If you are starting from zero too, come learn with us, and subscribe so we can grow together.
