Most profitable custom trading bots use two indicators and simple rules, not stacks of filters and confirmation layers.
There’s a common pattern in algorithmic trading where traders try to improve their strategy by adding more confluence, more conditions, and more confirmation indicators. The result is a system so specific that it barely produces any signals in a normal week. And when a trade does fire, the trader can’t tell which condition actually triggered the entry, which makes debugging and improving the bot almost impossible.
More complexity isn’t always better. Sometimes adding filters genuinely sharpens the trading automation. Other times it just buries a good strategy under rules that don’t help. Simpler strategies are easier to test, easier to maintain, and easier to trust during drawdowns.
